Virtual Vision Board

These are some goals that I am working on.  Once things show up on my vision boards, they manifest pretty quickly.  So keep your eye on this page.

CUBA

I am planning a trip to Havana, Cuba in August 2010.  My Spanish is terrible, unless I have had a few glasses of wine and sadly, I don’t know as much as I should about my family history and background.  I would like to be there for 5 weeks – meeting family members I have never met, working on my Spanish, learning more about Cuban history and immersing myself in all parts of Cuban dance culture.  Currently, I am researching all possible avenues to make this happen.

The pieces and resources that I have:

  • My father has a cousin that lives in Cuba that we are trying to connect
  • He has started his own blog, My Cuban Thing, documenting his experience as a Cuban American – my dad will be a huge resource (and my favorite)
  • There are a few learn Spanish abroad programs I am pricing out – Languages Abroad is one I am looking into
  • Cuban Contemporary Modern company, Danza Contemporanea de Cuba that has a festival for 10 days, August 2 – 13, 2010

International Association of Dance Science and Medicine (IADMS) Conference
Birmingham, UK
October 2010

As a Pilates instructor, dance teacher, dancer and choreographer I have become very passionate about dance injuries and dance injury prevention.  This conference is open to everyone who cares about dance from dancers to physicians.  All of the latest research and information available will be presented at this conference.  I would like to attend the conference in October 2010 and present at the conference in 2011.

What I’ve Got So Far:

  • My cousin lives in England and has already offered me up a place to stay (if not during the conference, before and after)
  • Planning on becoming a student member of this organization over winter break

Bates Dance Festival

American Dance Festival

Dance Festivals

There are hundred of dance festivals that take place every summer. There are two in particular that I would love to attend.  Dates, times and previous commitments are conflicting but it doesn’t matter.  I am going to find a way to go before I graduate.

  1. This Virtual Vision Board is a great idea. I’m going to put one up on my site. Going to Cuba next year will be the first entry.

Great looking site… “I’ve taught you well Grasshopper.”

Oh and thanks for the link
